In the past few weeks I’ve started a composition course through the excellent Berklee School of Music online.

The course I’ve been doing is Composition for Film and Television. It goes through the approaches to writing for different themes and moods common in both mediums.

For the past two weeks the focus has been on love themes, perhaps appropriate with Valentines Day coming in just a few days.

Here are three of the compositions/arrangements that I’ve prepared during this time. The first two are small and large orchestrations of a simple (provided) love theme. The small orchestration would go into an intimate scene, possibly early in the film as the first time that the melody is presented.

The large orchestration would go as a big climactic (possibly literally) moment in the film.

And finally, an original composition of a theme. This was originally written to hypothetically accompany a deleted scene from Anne of Green Gables.
